I'm Alex Parker, the best defenseman in the NHL, heartbreaker, and troublemaker. My team had the best penalty kill record in the league, thanks to me. I was on a winning team and so close to the Stanley Cup before I hooked up with the wrong puck bunny—the team owner’s granddaughter. Oops! So, they shipped me off to Philadelphia to play for the Flyers, one of the worst teams in the league.
My agent thinks I need to clean up my act. I drink too much. I sleep around too much. He assigns Charlotte Coachman, aka Coach, to whip me into shape. Coach is a sexy as hell sports agent that challenges me, and every time we're around each other it's as if we're having our own face-off. I want her but she has strict rules about dating clients. And I like breaking them.
Jillian Quinn delivers an emotional punch with her contemporary sports romance – Parker. It’s not your typical jock love story, because Ms. Quinn tackles some serious subjects in Parker. She does so with a sensitive touch and seamlessly blends the darker storylines into a sexy romance, so you have all the good feels expected of the genre.
I loved Charlotte “Coach” Coachman. She’s a no nonsense successful sports agent who works hard and doesn’t take any crap. She was a collegiate athlete and became a phenomenal agent, and her career is her sole focus. Even though she’s surrounded by good looking athletes, she never dates clients, and she’s been successful following that rule… until she meets Alex Parker.
She’s suddenly asked to babysit Alex, the NHL’s most notorious bad boy, after he’s traded due to repeated public scandals. She’s doesn’t want to put up with the playboy, but she is sure she can handle him, but she never planned to be extremely attracted to him.
Alex has hit rock bottom after the trade, and when he meets Charlotte, he discovers he truly wants to change his ways and is willing to listen to her career advice. He quits sleeping around and stops all partying while he and Charlotte begin to get closer. They can’t ignore their fierce attraction for long, and their relationship becomes important to him and a prime motivator for him to stay on the straight and narrow.
Charlotte had a troubled childhood that still affects her today. She finds comfort with Alex, and she’s never experienced that before with another person. Addiction changed her life, which is why she’s adamant that Alex stop drinking. She’s has a tough exterior but is a sensitive woman underneath and is slowly allowing Alex past her defenses. She really likes Alex, but their relationship could have very damaging consequences to her beloved job.
I’ve already said I love Charlotte, but I will mention it again. I think she is awesome. I also love Alex, and I love them together. Call this a love fest. Seriously, they are both great characters and truly compliment each other. Alex really grows up and comes through for Charlotte, and he gives her the strength to let down her guard and show her more vulnerable side. If you’re looking for a sexy hockey romance that offers a little something more than typically found in a sports romance, pick up Parker today.
